Good news for the local 410 racing in So Cal as The Alexander Racing team will add a car to their silver bullet garage with Damion Gardner in the seat. It will do several things. First another hot shoe running with us is a blessing and will bring some fans back to the seats! A blessing that five time CRA Champion Mike Spencer will have more competition in 2013 and make Bruce bromme Jr's chore a little harder, and personally I can't wait. Remember Bruce and Damion were champions together in 2005 and 2006. I remember the first time Damion showed up back in the day and I think it might be a lot of the same excitement this timearound. His new teammate Nic Faas won't be a pushover, so this will be a strong team to rekon with! Of course it probably means that the Pace contract he had for this year didn't happen, so that is bad news for him but good news for us. Welcome back Damion, you have been missed!

Wouldn't want fans to have nothing to do when the 410 sprint cars are dark, so I have added other opportunities to see open wheel racing on the CRA/URA open dates. Click here to check it out.

Sorry about the hacker on Wagtimes. At first it was just a notice of virus attack, then Wagtimes was hacked to send you to another site. My providor says it's hard to say how they did it, but I changed passwords and hopefully all is well. Obviously, there is nothing out there that is worth anything financially and they could steal pics easy, so haven't a clue to what happened. Some people have nothing else to do.
Heading to Tulsa for the Chili Bowl next week so hopefully I'll have something to report.
12/8/12 - 9:30 AM
It's getting suspenceful as I wait for the Scotty Burns Dirt Entertainment News. He has two tracks now, neither on the new CRA schedule, but an announcement soon about plans for 2013 is coming. I know he is planning to schedule in the CRA gaps with unlimited sprints and a couple other classes at both his tracks with surprising news about how he will do it, but wait for it!
I have plans to sell my beloved 185,000 mile red Vet soon as I don't need 3 cars and Terry's retirement seems emminent. The thing still runs sweet and strong, but the interior needs refreshing and I am sad about it. I am going to have to put a trailer hitch on Terry's Morano so I can take my Mule to other tracks next year, it's just to much for these tired old legs and I need the comfy ride instead of the long walks.
11/14/12 - 4:30 PM
Hot Breaking News!!! Scott Burns announced today that the Orange Show Speedway will feature "Wingless Warriors" Sprints and Midgets in 2013. More to follow!
10/30/12 - 11:00 PM
1) The last cash collecting event for Wagtimes is this weekend at the Oval Nationals. I'll be bringing two 1.75 specially labeled bottles of Crown Royal with one to be awarded each night to the Wagtimes/Lafond Hard Charger. The eligible drivers are the local CRA drivers that we have suppoerted during the season. The total cash in hand as we arrive on Friday is $ 1403 plus the jar of change of over $500 ready to go.
I will have a table set-up both nights to collect more cash to add to the awards. Bring your own jar of change, some greenbacks or other form of $$$ for the racers! Thank you for the help!
10/15/12 - 11:00 PM
1) The 19th annual Trophy Cup Thursday night Non-wing event that premiers this year has 47 cars registered with several interesting drivers entered. Brent Kaeding and his son Bud are in the traditional cars plus Darren Clayton coming a long ways to make it interesting. CRA stars include 5 time CRA champion Mike Spencer in the # 18 Kittle Kar, Matt Mitchell, Cory Kruseman, the Vander Weerd twins of Richard and Jace, Cory Kruseman, Danny Sheridan, Ryan Bernal, Kenny Perkins and Shane Golobic. Other hot locals ready to battle include Peter Murphy and Danny Faria. It should be a good one as the format is very different than what these boys are used to.
For the regular Trophy Cup event nearly 90 cars are registered with Danny Faria, Peter Murphy, Andy Foresburg, Geoffrey Strole, Bud Kaeding, Kyle Hirst, Jace Vander Weerd, Brent Kaeding, Darren Clayton and D J Neto running both styles so all three nights. Some notable names here include Jac Haudenschild, Terry McCarl, Jason Myers, Shane Stewart, Bobby McMahan, Rico Abreu and several other travelers. The format makes this particular wing race as good as it gets as passing is premium with up front spots useless for the overall title. This event is worth the drive.
You might not know but Trophy Dave has been responsible for giving the Make A Wish Foundation over $500,000 from the Trophy Cup coffers with many fundraisers. Last year the check was for $50,000! Think about it! Go to http://trophycup.org to see the real story all about 19 years of Trophy Cup events that started at the now gone San Jose Raceway, where they went to Hanford Raceway before finding a home in Tulare years ago!
2) The Grand Opening ceremony of the ARIZONA MOTORSPORTS HALL OF FAME and Open Wheel Exhibit will serve as the official kick off to the USAC ParkerStore Hall of Fame Classic set for Canyon Speedway October 26th and 27th with CRA and the National USAc driveers competing there with the Local Arizona drivers like last year.
The newly built museum is housed next to the Racers Advantage Store in Phoenix and will be the first glimpse of a very elaborate display of the history of open wheel racing in Arizona and the Arizona Motorsports Hall of Fame.
This special event is scheduled for October 24th from 6pm-9pm, and will be hosted by Steve Stroud's Racers Advantage Store along with the 2012 Hall of Fame Inductees that include 5 Arizona drivers who have won the Belleville Midget Nationals. Come and welcome Lealand McSpadden, Billy Boat, Jerry Coons Jr, Dave Manes, and Mark Passerelli as these drivers salute their national midget victories.
The exhibit area will establish regular hours on October 31st, 2012 making the general public welcome. The accompanying Racers Advantage Store, a racers safety equipment superstore, is open daily, and will answer any questions you may have at 602-438-0022.
The anticipation continues to build as the stars of the National USAC Sprint Car Series gear up the fall Sprint Car event honoring Hall of Fame members and new inductees. The Hall of Fame Inductee's will be accompanied by Grand Marshal, Lealand McSpaden and many other racing greats at the 12th running of the Hall of Fame Classic.
Two-day advanced tickets for the Hall of Fame Classic are just $40, a savings of the single day ticket prices of $20 on Friday and $25 on Saturday. Platinum Reserved seating is available as well for just an additional $5 per night.
Tickets may be ordered by calling the track at 602-258-RACE (7223).
3) Along the way I will be accepting any cash or change for the Wagtimes/Lafond Hard Charger Award to be presented, along with 2 specially labled bottles of Crown Royal at the Oval Nationals on Friday and Saturday nights November 2 and 3. Stop me along the way as we have collected nearly $2,000 already and need your help to raise this number up!!!

In order for you to know when I have he latest breaking news, when I update the front page and put the date and time of update, I will add Wags Blog with it's own time and date stamp. That means something new has been posted in the blog.
1) I am considering some kind of response feature so you can resopond to items on the Wags Blog and everyone sees it. I don't want a message board, we already have those, but I might like to share some responses that you respond with automatically when entered. We'll see if there is an app out there for me.
2) The open Sprint car show at Route 66 Moterplex on Sept 29 has been cancelled and changed to to a stock car show? Inquiring minds would be interested in the reason. That's two on Scott!
3) Jeremy Sherman drove the Kittle # 18 Kar that he manufactured to 11th in the Canyon Main. Who will drive the little blue bugger at Santa Maria on Sept 29th? Is Santa Maria a clue to # 2? Charles Davis Jr won the 360 event.
4) Is it true Wags will have two specially labled 1.7 litre Crown Royal bottles of booze for the Hard charger winners at the Ovals both nights? Plus the Wagtimes/lafond Jar of Change that night could be up to $1000 for the Local CRA most passing driver! Still collecting!
FYI: I have overhauled a lot of the Wags Web links to make it easier to find what you want to view. The new Vegas styled billboard buttons should be easy to read and follow. The front page buttons are self explanatory and lead to the core Wagtimes data. The new Wagtimes photos button now has most of the pictures on the Wags Web under the appropriate button. The other Wags links have all the related Wagtimes items. The racing links button take you to the other racing links we support.
I have added a ton of pics to the Wagtimers page bringing you pictures of the most recent Wagtimers on parade. I updated the the WRA page with recent photos as well. I added the "new" scrapbook that just went up to highlight pics from days gone by. Also I have added a podium page with drivers getting their rewards and will collect more for this link. I added Steve Lafond's own page so you can find all his work in one place. Doug Allen's page has been reorganized so you can find his work by the date now.
The CRA history is now laid out for easier access and I am researching the most wins between Rip and Dean. I have added a bunch of race tracks under Race track visits, and much more tweeks that are too numerous to mention.
If you haven't been beyond my weekly column on the Wags Web, check it out. If there is something not out there that you would like to see from me, let me know and I'll see if I can build it! If you see an obvious mistake, point it out as well. I may be done with my reorg for awhile, but you never know. I like the new visual look and the easier way to find stuff. Let me know how you like it.
Carl Lattner lost his wife Joan today after a long illness. Rest in peace.
1) Modern Day Cowboy Deron Clayton wins Habstadt $10,000!
2) The Kittle 360 will be at Canyon this coming weekend. What local Arizona driver will be in the seat?
3) Josh Ford and Bride to be beautiful Wendy to wed next week.
4) Turkey night birds to be cooked at the Annual Turkey night at the PAS in the tailgate area!
5) Hopes for 5 or 6 CRA dates at Route 66 Motorplex in 2013!
6) Rumor has it Tony Jones isn't done yet?
7) Steve Howard is still in the hospital at the MAGNOLIA REHABILITATION & NURSING CENTER, 8133 MAGNOLIA AVE., RIVERSIDE, CA. 92504. Go visit or send cards and letters!
8) any truth to the rumor that a bounty will be put on the little red sucker!
