Dirt Entertainment has been furiously working on some changes to the programs for their dirt oval track events at both the Orange Show Stadium in San Bernardino, CA and Route 66 Motorplex in Victorville, CA. Some positive things are planned, yet due to various complications they have taken longer to put into action than originally anticipated. We have been working diligently towards a better, more regular product for our fans, competitors and supporters. We are hopeful that the Fair Boards and the racing community will continue to work with us to help bring dirt track racing back to what is was during the "glory days" in Southern California.

2013 Season Opener
ORANGE SHOW STADIUM
Inaugural Robert "Doc" Griffin Memorial

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: April 18

ORANGE SHOW STADIUM RETURNS TO DIRT TRACK RACING WITH "DOC" GRIFFIN MEMORIAL

(San Bernardino, CA, April 17th 2013)

Dirt Entertainment is pleased to announce the Grand Re-Opening of the Orange Show Stadium in downtown San Bernardino, California on Saturday, April 27 2013 with the First-Annual Robert "Doc" Griffin Memorial. This historic event will not only return Orange Show Stadium back to its clay roots, but also kick off the 66th continuous OSS racing season!

The Orange Show Stadium was opened as a clay oval on May 1, 1947 and has since become the longest running speedway in California history. The track was paved in 1964 and has played host to some of the most legendary racers and races over the years. Names like A.J. Foyt, Parnelli Jones, Bill Vukovich, Roger Ward, Jimmy Bryan, Bobby Unser, Rick Mears, Ivan Baldwin and Troy Ruttman have all circled the famous quarter-mile raceway doing battle in open wheel race cars. In 2012, the track was dormant for nearly an entire calendar year, until Dirt Entertainment took over promotion of the facility and provided one final race on pavement on December 15th to keep the racing streak alive. As soon as the final checkered flag fell on that night, several loads of clay were delivered to the fairgrounds to transform the popular familyraceway into a mud-slinging thrill factory. The 2013 racing schedule will complete the 66th consecutive season at OSS.

"Doc" Griffin was the father of Richard "The Gas Man" Griffin of Silver City, New Mexico. "The Gas Man" was a dominate force in CRA and SCRA competition during the 1990's and early 2000's driving the potent "Lil Red Sucker" #50 Madera Produce car owned by Ron Chaffin and wrenched by the legendary team of Bruce Bromme Senior and Bruce Bromme Junior. Richard took home 5 SCRA Championships during his career and became one of the most popular drivers in the series history.

At an early age, Richard convinced his father, Robert "Doc" Griffin to let him race. His career started in flat track motorcycles, later progressed to stock cars and finally matured into slinging fire-breathing sprint cars. During his racing career, Richard was the Fleet Manager for Doc's oil, gas, and propane distribution company, Griffin's Propane, Inc. It was selling gas products that actually gave him his nickname "The Gas Man".

Known for his sense of humor and genuine personality, Robert "Doc" Griffin was also very popular amongst fellow racers and within the racing community. Doc passed away on March 25, 2013. In his honor, the season opener to be held at the newly re-opened Orange Show Stadium on Saturday, April 27th will be known as the Inaugural "Doc Griffin Memorial", and will feature URA Unlimited Sprint Cars and California Lightning Sprints, along with the Young Guns, Senior Sprints, Limited Midgets and an exhibition by the WRA Nostalgia cars from the '50s and '60s.

The URA Unlimited Sprint Cars will race for a special purse, which was increased by Chaffin Motorsports, Madera Produce and the friends and family of Robert "Doc" Griffin. The winner of this year's Unlimited Sprint Car Main Event will take home $4,000.00, and Main Event qualifiers are guaranteed $400 to start. A full purse breakdown will be posted at www.dirtentertainment.com. The purse will be paid in cash the night of the event!

A practice session will be held on Friday, April 26, 2012. For more details, please visit the website listed above. Racing haulers will be allowed to park overnight at the fairgrounds.

URA...THE FUTURE IS UNLIMITED!

Checkered

For Immediate Release March 21, 2013

After a successful URA opening event last Saturday at RT 66 Motorplex, we polled the URA racing members to get any feedback they had. We discovered it would not be in everyone’s best interest to race two weekends in a row for many of the teams. They candidly disclosed they could use a little break.

With that in mind, we will cancel the unlimited sprints from this week’s event. The remainder of the program will remain the same. The URA is working to make it better for the racers and we believe by rescheduling at this time, it is the right thing to do. Furthermore, we will still be running the URA Limited Midgets and CDCRA Dwarf Cars, but not the unlimited Midgets. Spectators will find a reduced $10 general admission fee at the front gate and if the say "Sprint Car" they will receive a 2 for 1 coupon for our next URA event. The Unlimited Midgets will not be included in the URA regularly scheduled races in the future except for special events.

Be sure to come out Saturday March 30th for our URA Stock Car opener! We have a full line-up with IMCA Mods, Late Models, Super Street, Sport Mods, Mini, Street & American Stocks!

The next RT 66 Motorplex URA event will be May 11th with the Unlimited Sprints, Limited Sprints, Dirt Legends and the WRA. In the meantime we will continue to add more clay to the racing surface at Route 66 Motorplex to make it better in the future.

The next URA event is scheduled for Orange Show Stadium on April 27th.

For Immediate Release February 25, 2013

San Bernardino, Ca, February 25, 2013

First, the United Racing Association (URA) and the folks at Dirt Entertainment would like to express our sincerest wishes for a speedy recovery to the fans that were victums of the violent crash during last Saturday's NASCAR Nationwide Series event at Daytona International Speedway. We consider the fans of our great sport of auto racing our extended family, and our thoughts and prayers go out to each and every one of the spectators and the family members involved.

We are also extremely relieved to learn that all the drivers involved in the accident were Okay and were able to walk away from the crash on their own. Although it is a known fact that automobile racing has always had inherent risks for both the drivers and the fans, nothing can protect us from everything. However, NASCAR has done an impeccable job of setting the standard for safety for both drivers and fans. This is something that Dirt Entertainment looks up to and would hope to emulate at our tracks.

As many of you have learned in recent months, Dirt Entertainment has been busy with the transformation of the Orange Show Stadium (OSS) in San Bernardino, California from a 1/4-mile paved oval back into a clay racetrack for open wheel and stock car events. Naturally, several issues come into play when you consider the numerous types of racecars that will soon be slinging dirt around this racy arena. Our number one concern is maintaining the safety of both the drivers and the fans during our events.

Modifications to the existing crash wall and fencing around the perimeter of the racetrack are necessary as we add the thickmess of the clay surface to the track, and also to contain potentially airborne racecars. This creates several changes. The staff at Dirt Entertainment initially believed that modifications to the existing wall would be sufficient. However, after a more thorough study, and after witnessing what happened at Daytona this past weekend, we believe it is in the best interest of our teams and our fans to re-evaluate the entire process and build an even safer perimeter than what was planned. We are moving forward as fast as possible to complete the project but we refuse to cut corners to compromise safety.

Unfortunately, this process will take time. Because of the anticipated construction delays, the URA inaugural event scheduled for March 23rd will be tentatively moved to April 27th. The entire program for the March 23rd race has been moved and will now be held at the Route 66 Motorplex in Victorville, California. Also, the practice night at OSS previously scheduled for March 1st has been cancelled. We will tentatively have our first open practice at OSS on April 19th. The remainder of the URA schedule will remqain the same.

We thank all of you for your patience in this matter and we look forward to seeing everyone at Route 66 Motorplex on march 15th for open practice, and again on March 16th for the URA Season Opener. We will be updating our website, social media pages, and related forums with updates, so please stay tuned!

UNITED RACING ASSOCIATION NAMES NEW COMPETITION DIRECTOR

(San Bernardino, CA, February 12, 2013)

The United Racing Association (URA) is pleased to announce that Steve Ostling has just been assigned the role of Competition Director for all URA racing events in the 2013 racing season. Everyone at URA and Dirt Entertainment would like to offer our most sincere welcome to the new organization. Since his semi-retirement from a very successful sprint car driving career, Steve Ostling has worked in a similar capacity for open wheel races at various race tracks throughout the Western States. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience to the quickly growing organization. But more importantly, Steve Ostling brings a reputation of mutual respect between himself and the drivers, as well as a professional attitude and wealth of knowledge about our sport. Everyone at URA and Dirt Entertainment couldn’t think of a better candidate to work with the team of event staff, drivers, owners, and officials to ensure that the sprint car and midget events are conducted in a safe, fair, andprofessional manner.

The URA season kicks off on Saturday, March 16th at the Route 66 Motorplex in Victorville, California. DIRT ENTERTAINMENT ANNOUNCES THE URA OPEN WHEEL RACING SERIES

(January 21, 2013. San Bernardino, CA) Dirt Entertainment is pleased to announce the launch of an entirely new racing series for open wheel racing in Southern California, the United Racing Association (URA). The URA is a new series created specifically around the focus of bringing open wheel short track racing “back to basics” by creating a uniform, simplistic set of rules for its racing divisions in hopes of allowing a diverse group of race car drivers to compete at multiple racing venues, while providing first-class dirt oval track racing for its fans.

Although the series hopes to bring new life to the sport of open wheel racing in Southern California and up to the Central Coast, the vision is to rekindle some of the ideals of the past that were highly successful throughout the history of grass roots auto racing to promote innovation, attract more teams, and reduce the overall costs involved with the sport.

The United Racing Association consists of a series of four (4) open wheel divisions: Unlimited Sprint Cars, Limited Sprint Cars, Unlimited Midgets, and Limited Midgets. All divisions will compete for an annual championship that will be based upon points accumulated at URA sanctioned tracks. The 2013 schedule will focus heavily on the series’ two “home tracks”, which are Orange Show Stadium, a ¼-mile clay oval located within the National Orange Show Events Center in San Bernardino, California, and Route 66 Motorplex, located at the San Bernardino Fairgrounds in Victorville, California. The Inaugural URA Season will kick off in March of 2013, with opening night races on back-to-back weekends March 16th at Route 66 Motorplex and March 23rd at Orange Show Stadium. Santa Maria Speedway in Nipomo, California will host the URA on August 24th. So far, 11 events are scheduled for the 2013 season.

The URA was founded by racers with a couple of long-term goals in mind. First and foremost, the URA was created to provide quality oval dirt track venues for California open wheel racers that have identical, scaled-back rules packages and are promoted with a common purpose….to bring racing back to its purest form. The idea is to keep the rules and enforcement of such to a minimum so as to promote innovation and reduce overall costs. This will also encourage competitors from other organizations to participate with the URA without having to spend time and money conforming to specific rules packages. Instead, the URA will allow competitors to “run whatcha brung” in the Unlimited divisions.

The URA is also aimed at providing a “stepping-stone” driver-development program by offering a multi-tier platform of racing divisions that promote growth within the sport of open wheel dirt-track oval racing. The four divisions sanctioned by the URA will offer an entire spectrum of opportunities of participation for drivers with skill levels ranging from first-time novices to seasoned veterans. The Unlimited classes will be reserved for qualified or licensed drivers, over the age of 16, with experience in their divisions. Those with little or no experience may participate in the Limited divisions and may gain valuable experience in an economical, entry-level Limited Midget or Limited Sprint Car. The limited midget class is open to anyone over the age of 12 years old.

The concept behind the URA will benefit teams in various other ways, including allowing them to compete in multiple divisions. Also, younger, less experienced drivers will have the opportunity to watch and learn from their peers and from more experienced drivers that will be on hand in the Unlimited divisions, while gaining valuable track time competing with each other.

The URA believes that offering a progressive list of divisions with limited rules will also create a better overall show for the fans, as they will be able to see a minimum of four divisions compete on any given night, and as they watch the younger generation blossom and graduate up through the ranks. The vision is that heroes will be born and raised among the ranks, and California open wheel fans will have the opportunity to watch drivers throughout their entire career in open wheel racing.

Aside from stringent safety rules and requirements, the descriptions of the four divisions are quite simple:
1. Unlimited Sprint Car : This division is open to conventional sprint car chassis. Wings are not allowed. There will be no restrictions for aspiration, displacement, or fuel. Electronic fuel injection is allowed. The tire rule applies only to the right rear, which must be a HTW. A weight rule will be enforced via scales.

2. Limited Sprint Car: This division is open to conventional sprint car chassis. Wings are not allowed. Fuel is limited to Methanol. The engines must have a cast iron block with a maximum displacement of 360 cubic inches, and must be normally-aspirated, mechanically injected, and have 23-degree heads. The tire rule applies only to the right rear, which must be a HTW. A weight rule will be enforced via scales.

3. Unlimited Midget: This division is open to conventional full-midget chassis. Wings are not allowed. There will be no restrictions for aspiration, displacement, or fuel. Electronic fuel injection is allowed. The tire rule applies only to the right rear, which must be a SP2. A weight rule will be enforced via scales.

4. Limited Midget: This division is open to conventional midget chassis. Wings are not allowed. Fuel is limited to Methanol. The engines must be of the Ford Focus motor package. The tire rule applies only to the right rear, which must be a SP2. A weight rule will be enforced via scales.

The entire 2013 URA schedule is listed at the end of this release.
