I am about to embark on a night with Skip Creith in his Ford Bronco push truck. We are at one of the photographers favorite spots here in turn three inside the K-rail.
The first push was a rush as we slid behind Brent Kaeding and away we go. Notice the mud clods on the window looking like gunshot holes.
Cars are on the track going around turn three as we duck back into the work area.
Chris Holt is leaning against a big tire as activity goes on for packing the track.
Videographer Mike Truex is doing his thing from behind the K-rail in turn two where Skip parks his truck when we aren’t pushing.
Here they go on hot laps and you can see my little weenie camera can’t focus them at speed.
Buster Venard is standing waiting for his son Brian to hit the track so he can watch the car work on the track.
This is the view of the exit before turn 1 and coming to you towards the exit on the track in turn two.
Skip Creith, left, and Shane Holt, the paramedic SCRA official, are watching the action while I hide in the truck.
I think this is Boston Reid getting his push.
Now there is a bunch of photographers hanging around getting their best shots.
A view looking down into the pits from Skips parking spot.
Jack Gardner Jr and other Gardner family members have rebuilt Nadine Kellar’s Sled chassis. The shiny black #
6 is very Sharp. Bobby Graham drove it well until a certain slide job.
Nadine and Ronnie Gardner watch as Jack Jr adjusts something on her car.
The C Main lines up to start the night off. It took a long while with many crashes before it finished.
Down the back stretch they go!!!!
The view thru the drivers window shows the stacked cars with Mike English ride, Buzz Shoemaker’s # 0 car, is on top.
And the winner is……….. English was done for the weekend, the others came back.
Skip is watching the unraveling on this mess.
This heat race has John Scott, Rip Williams, Jac Haudenschild, Tony Jones and Tony Elliott. They were all at the back!
Here comes the main event and the end of my ride.
There they go and it was fun zipping around the track all night. Thanks Skip, it was fun. Now back to my regular
perch for the rest of the weekend.
