Tom Ball, third generation sprint car driver from Albuquerque, NM, recently lost his father, Steve "Speed" Ball. Steve battled Leukemia until March 6 when he passed away at the age of 67. Tom and his father raced together many times in recent years. Steve drove at nearby Duke City Speedway up until his illness last year.
Tom is still active at Duke City and occasionally comes West where he has run with the CRA and SCRA over the past ten years. Tom is known for his New Mexico National Guard ride, an F16 and used that as his sprint car number. Our thoughts and prayers go out to our friend Tom in this time of sadness for the family.
