The ticket line could be very long if you came too late

Yes, there's my wife to the left waiting to race for our spot back in the day.

Anyone remember the 19 second club? The final track record, 17.958, was set by Billy Boat on the last sprint car night at Ascot, the 13th annual Don Peabody Classic on Nov 17, 1990

Another look

And here is how Ascot looks today. Some kind of a distribution center? The land didn't allow any building on it. but could have remained a racetraack!

Another look at the wall in front of the property.
I first met Cary after sending him some nonsense about stuff at the track about some of my theories concerning fan clubs and more. After meeting him, he allowed me to do the entry level Wagtimes stuff that included a chili feed, selling Wagtimes T-shirts and collecting money, the first Wagsbucks collection, to go to the guy who missed the main by one spot in the Semi. Cary Faas was that lucky person who recieved about $550 of the $650 we collected that night. The other money went to the guy in the Consi that didn't transfer to the Semi. So Cary lit my fire and it went on for over 25 years with over $622,000 going to the racers from the Wagtimes programs. Cary had Chris holt present the money to each recipient every race. When Ascot closed, I took my Wagsbuck program on the road, and surprisingly, it still worked with a lot of help from fans, Wagtimer's and some astute announcers. My thanks to Cary for giving me a shove to do something that I never thought about until we met.
A famed motorsports attorney, promoter and racecar owner, Cary Agajanian has personally represented and advised over 20 sports and leisure sanctioning bodies in liability suits during the past 30 years, including Championship Auto Racing Teams (CART), United States Auto Club (USAC), Formula One (FISA), and National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR), among others. Cary is the Managing Partner of AMWT&C and head of the General Liability Group. An important part of Cary’s practice is motorsports litigation and general liability law.
As legal counsel for the Long Beach Grand Prix and Toyota, U.S.A. in the precedent setting case of Regazzoni vs. Long Beach Grand Prix, Cary convinced the Federal District Court to dismiss all claims asserted by the famed Formula One driver who was paralyzed during practice at the event based upon the waiver and release and express assumption of the risk agreement signed by the driver prior to participation. The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals later upheld the case, and the well-publicized ruling marked a significant victory for the sports and leisure fields, setting the tone for future similar litigation.
Cary has argued numerous motorsports-related cases, many resulting in published California Court of Appeals opinions enforcing waiver and release and assumption of risk agreements, such as in Hoffman v. Sports Car Club of America (1986) 180 Cal.App.3d 119 and National and International Brotherhood of Street Racers, Inc. v. Superior Court (1989) 215 Cal.App.3d 934.
Cary was instrumental in authoring the CART Annual Waiver and Release and the Event Waiver and Release, among others, documents which are widely recognized as the industry standard used throughout the United States.
Prior to founding AMWT&C, he served as Deputy City Attorney for the City of Los Angeles for nine years, prosecuting hundreds of criminal actions, representing the City in major civil liability cases, and managing hundreds of attorneys and employees for a major division of the city attorney's office. A much sought after lecturer on risk management in motorsports, Cary conducts lectures to groups across the United States.
Cary is also the founder and principal of Motorsports Management International, LLC (“MMI”), a full service sports management company representing professional race car drivers. MMI also provides marketing and consulting services in the motorsports industry.
