CRA 1 AM RACE RESULTS

On an extremely hot day, 35 cars came out as the PAS put on an afternoon show of cars and drivers for the fans. When it cooled down the fast time guy wasn't the Demon this week as he had no luck at all! Charles Davis Jr put the quick number on the board as Damion was "only" 5th fast. It was very windy all day and the track suffered for it. When the heats started, it was obvious that the high groove was the fastest and therefore after the first one, they became harder to pass in and the night began. In the main the first start saw Kirby grab the lead and Damion jump to second. Danny spun in turn two and a full restart began. Damion's car didn't go on the next one and another wait while the Chaffin crew tried desperately to fix the problem to no avail. He was done,and Cory switched places with him in the points and he is behind the same 17 points he was ahead before.

The next start was all Tony Jones as Kirby dropped to fifth and Spencer began the chase. The only real movement was early and as a few dropped out, it became Jones, Spencer, Ripper and Cory. RJ Johnson had some welding to do on his car before he came back in the semi and made the main and grabbed fifth, his best finish this year. Matt Mitchell took Rippers backup car from 19th to 8th for the hard charger move of the night.

It was a dry track and pretty much a freight train with Tony Jones the engineer all the way for 40 laps. It was his first firecracker win for him in his cache of big races in his career, but one well deserved.
